About this program

The Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funds clinical training and human resource development grants under CFDA 93.244, with the most recent grant awards dated September 15, 2001.

No recent grant awards or opportunities are present in the source. The portfolio reflects 59 Project Grant awards obligating $7.6 million in combined federal dollars, all distributed by SAMHSA. The funding history reaches back to July 2001, with the most recent awards closing in September 2001—over two decades ago. No current or recently posted grant opportunities are documented in the source.

The program funds two distinct activity streams: institutional clinical training grants designed to recruit mental health specialists to shortage areas, increase minority representation in mental health professions, and train personnel to address mental health needs of children, adolescents, the elderly, the seriously mentally ill, and rural populations; and state human resource development grants supporting state mental health authorities in workforce capacity building.

All awards in the portfolio are Project Grants. Award sizes ranged from $50,000 to $607,500, with the majority clustering at $100,000. Representative awards include Project Grant 6SM15167C000000 for $607,500, Project Grant 6SM54180A000000 for $527,848, and Project Grant 6SM54174A000000 for $300,000. Most awards carried project completion dates of September 30, 2002.

The program shows no documented activity or opportunity pipeline after September 2001. No information is available on whether the program remains active, what solicitation timeline currently applies, or whether future competitions are planned. Business development professionals should verify current program status directly with SAMHSA before investing pursuit effort.
