About this program

The Vietnam Education Foundation funds fellowships enabling Vietnamese nationals to pursue Master's and doctoral degrees in STEMM fields at accredited U.S. universities under Assistance Listing 85.802, with the most recent information current as of the program description provided and no recent award or opportunity dates specified in the source.

The program provides funding directly to universities at the beginning of the fellow's first two academic years, supplemented by professional development grants for the duration of the degree program. Fellowships are restricted to Vietnamese nationals who demonstrate superior academic achievement (minimum 7.0 GPA on the Vietnamese scale), meet standardized test thresholds (GRE minimum 173 on the Computer-Based Test or equivalent, TOEFL/IELTS demonstrating English proficiency sufficient for U.S. graduate study), and exhibit leadership potential and commitment to advancing science and technology in Vietnam and U.S.-Vietnam relations. Fellows must maintain progress verified by semester reports and transcripts and comply with J-1 visa regulations. Selection involves a multi-stage process: initial eligibility screening, technical review of academic statements and personal statements, and in-person interviews conducted in Vietnam by U.S. professors.

The source does not provide a grant award portfolio, recent award examples, or recent grant opportunity posting dates. No information is available on award cadence, typical award magnitudes, funding concentration among sub-agencies within the Vietnam Education Foundation, or current solicitation status. The source indicates applications are available through the VEF website but does not specify current application deadlines or the timing of the most recent awards.

Pursue this program only if your organization has Vietnamese graduate students enrolled or admissible to STEMM-focused Master's or doctoral programs and can document their status to the funding agency. Without recent award data, current opportunity dates, or typical award values in the source, direct contact with the Vietnam Education Foundation is necessary to determine current funding availability and application windows.
