About this program
The Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services administers Rehabilitation Training_General Training (CFDA 84.275) to support vocational, medical, social, and psychological rehabilitation programs; supported employment initiatives; and independent living client assistance, with the most recent grant award disbursed on October 1, 2010.
This program has not been active in more than fifteen years. Only three Project Grants totaling $2.8 million in federal obligations have been awarded since the program's inception in 2003, with awards distributed across 2003, 2005, and 2010. The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services is the sole funding agency under this Assistance Listing. No recent grant opportunities have been posted.
The three historical awards span a range of rehabilitation training initiatives. A 2010 Project Grant for $1.5 million supported a general rehabilitation training program with performance ending in March 2014. A 2005 award of $4.9 million funded a general rehabilitation training program concluding in September 2010. A 2003 award of $77 thousand supported a national clearinghouse of rehabilitation training materials. Recipients contributed $3.8 million in non-federal matching funds across the three awards.
Awards under this program funded the development and delivery of training for personnel in rehabilitation services fields, with typical award magnitudes ranging from under $100 thousand to approximately $1.5 million in federal dollars. The program's stated intent remains to ensure availability of skilled rehabilitation personnel through personnel development, skills upgrading, and workforce expansion.
The extended gap between the final award in 2010 and the present date indicates this program is inactive or dormant. Business development professionals should treat this Assistance Listing as not currently available for new applications unless a recent opportunity notice or agency announcement indicates a resumption of funding.
