About this program
The Environmental Protection Agency funds environmental education and sustainability capacity-building projects through the Southeastern Multi-Media and Geographic Priority Projects program (CFDA 66.128), with the most recent grant award issued on November 1, 2014—over a decade ago.
This program has been effectively dormant since 2014. The portfolio contains seven total awards spanning from 2012 to 2014, with six awards concentrated in September and October 2012 and one final award in November 2014. No grants have been funded since then. The combined federal dollars obligated across the entire portfolio total $226 thousand, with individual award magnitudes ranging from zero dollars to $85 thousand, and typical awards in the $15 thousand to $40 thousand range.
The program funds education and outreach projects at institutions of higher education that build capacity around environmental sustainability and public health, with emphasis on curriculum integration, hands-on learning in pollution prevention and water and energy conservation, and environmental literacy development. Recent awards support projects such as campus composting system implementation at Centre College of Kentucky, soil contamination analysis integrated across curricula at Birmingham Southern College, transit and sustainability connectivity analysis at Rollins College, and outdoor environmental learning establishment through the Georgia Greening Youth Foundation. All awards in the portfolio were Project Grants; no Cooperative Agreements or other assistance types appear in the funding history.
The Environmental Protection Agency is the sole funding agency under this Assistance Listing, accounting for all seven awards and $226 thousand in federal dollars obligated.
No recent grant opportunities have been posted. The program description references a 2017 funding priority centered on academic advisor and student collaboration with industry around environmental learning and sustainability capacity, but no corresponding awards or solicitations appear in the portfolio or awards block. Given the eleven-year gap since the last award, this program should be treated as inactive pending evidence of renewed solicitation activity.
