About this program
The Small Business Administration's Intermediary Loan Program (CFDA 59.062) is no longer accepting proposals and has not been funded since 2012. This program is not currently available for pursuit.
The program operated as a three-year pilot that made direct loans of up to $1 million at one percent interest to nonprofit lending intermediaries, which then deployed those funds as loans of up to $200,000 to startup, newly established, or growing small business concerns. The SBA approved up to 20 nonprofit intermediaries per year, subject to funding availability. Intermediary loans carried a maximum term of 20 years with deferred payments during the first two years. Individual small businesses could not hold more than $200,000 in outstanding loans under the program concurrently.
Eligible applicants were private nonprofit entities with at least one year of direct small business lending experience. Applicants must have directly funded loans rather than merely provided referrals. Consortia were permitted if each member organization met eligibility criteria individually. Intermediaries operating under the SBA's microloan program were ineligible, though microloan program affiliates could apply. Annual audited financial statements were required.
The program's pilot phase concluded before 2012, when federal funding ceased. No recent grant awards or open opportunities are available under this listing. Organizations seeking SBA-supported lending intermediary programs should consult www.sba.gov for information on active alternatives.
