About this program
The Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women administers the OVW LGBT Specific Services Program (CFDA 16.057) to fund community-based programs providing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking services tailored to LGBT victims, with applicants notified of award decisions by fiscal year end.
The program funds the establishment and replication of LGBT-specific victim services addressing safety, emotional well-being, economic support, housing assistance, legal aid, and workplace needs. Eligible activities include enhanced service delivery for LGBT victims; culturally specific outreach to underserved LGBT communities; education and prevention strategies highlighting LGBT-specific resources; training for victim service providers, law enforcement, courts, and first responders; programming emphasizing victim autonomy and agency; and support services for non-offending LGBT parents of children exposed to violence.
Recipients are community-based organizations. The program operates on a case-by-case renewal basis. Award selection criteria are specified in individual notices of funding opportunity posted at https://www.justice.gov/ovw/open-notices-of-funding-opportunities. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov and the Department of Justice's JustGrants system. Recipients must maintain financial records, supporting documents, and statistical records for three years from the date of final expenditure report submission, or longer if litigation, claims, or audits are pending.
