About this program

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) within the Department of the Interior funds dedicated workspace and access to cooperator facilities supporting USGS research and data collection under Assistance Listing 15.828; the program description does not specify a current application deadline or recent award date.

This program provides workspace, specialized equipment, and facility access to support collaborative research in geological structure examination, water resource assessment, mineral and biological resource evaluation, and public lands classification. The USGS awards funds through internal projects and programs; funding is not separately budgeted or reserved for external solicitations. Awards take the form of cooperative agreements issued by authorized Grants Officers within the Department of the Interior. Scientists within the Geological Survey review and evaluate applications according to criteria including scientific excellence and relevance to USGS mission priorities, with funding limited to available appropriations.

The source does not report recent grant award activity, award volume trends, or a current grant opportunity with an application deadline. The program description indicates that applicants should contact the appropriate USGS headquarters or regional location for application deadlines and procedures. Applications must be submitted through grants.gov using Standard Form 424 and are subject to preapplication coordination requirements. Final award decisions are not subject to appeal, though the Department of the Interior provides feedback on unfunded proposals.

No representative recent awards, assistance-type distribution data, funding concentration figures, or typical award magnitudes are present in the source material. Recipients are required to maintain all records for three years after submission of the final financial report and comply with 2 CFR 200 and Department of the Interior regulations 2 CFR Part 1402.
