About this program
The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation funded a single Project Grant under CFDA 15.582 on January 1, 2024, with authority to support the Dry-Redwater Rural Water Project Feasibility Study expiring December 26, 2025.
This program funds feasibility studies for rural water infrastructure serving four counties in eastern Montana: McCone, Garfield, Richland, and Dawson County. The Dry-Redwater Rural Water Authority (DRWA) is the designated recipient and point of contact for technical components. The program's scope is narrowly defined—identifying a feasible rural water project within the Dry-Redwater Service Area to provide clean, safe drinking water to the region. The program carries no renewal authority and reflects a time-limited statutory obligation rather than an ongoing competitive funding line.
The portfolio consists entirely of Project Grants. One award of $800 thousand was obligated to the Dry-Redwater Rural Water Authority in January 2024 for the feasibility study, with an ultimate completion date of December 31, 2026. The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation is the sole funding agency under this program. Awarded projects are fully funded at the time of award, and final award decisions are not subject to appeal.
The program's statutory authority expired on December 26, 2025. No recent grant opportunities are currently open. The single-award portfolio, combined with the expired authority date and lack of renewal language, indicates this program is no longer actively soliciting applications. Organizations should not pursue new funding under this Assistance Listing, as the legislative mandate that created it has concluded and no mechanism exists for extended or renewed support beyond the single study award already made to DRWA.
