About this program

The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation funded water conservation activities in Oregon's Deschutes Basin through the Deschutes River Conservancy (CFDA 15.536), with the most recent grant award disbursed on September 23, 2009.

This program is not currently active. The portfolio contains two Project Grants totaling $1.9 million in federal dollars obligated, both awarded in September 2009 with completion deadlines in December 2011. No grant opportunities have been posted recently, and no awards have been disbursed in the past seventeen years.

When active, the program funded water conservation activities by the Deschutes River Conservancy, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to restore stream flow and improve water quality in Oregon's Deschutes Basin through agricultural water conservation, basin planning, and cooperative market-based approaches. The program brought together irrigators, environmental groups, and state, federal, and tribal agencies.

Both historical awards were Project Grants. The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation was the sole funding agency. The first award (Project Grant 09FC1U1438, September 9, 2009) obligated $275,500. The second award (Project Grant R09AP1CR03, September 23, 2009) obligated $3.5 million and was funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Combined federal obligation across the two awards was $1.9 million against a total obligation (federal plus non-federal match) of $3.8 million, indicating a fifty-percent non-federal cost-share requirement.

Pursuit is not recommended. The program has not active solicitations or recent funding activity. The last awards were issued during the 2009 ARRA funding cycle, with no subsequent years of activity visible in the portfolio. Applicants should verify current program status with the Bureau of Reclamation before investing resources in application development.
