About this program
The Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation has awarded grants under the Perkins County Rural Water System program (CFDA 15.523) for planning and construction of rural water supply infrastructure, with the most recent grant award dated July 14, 2009—17 years ago.
Program activity has ceased. Only two grant awards have been disbursed under this assistance listing, both Cooperative Agreements totaling $18.7 million in federal dollars obligated. The first award in 2002 funded planning and construction of the Perkins County Rural Water System at $14.2 million. The second award in 2009 funded construction of Phases VI and VII of the water distribution system at $4.4 million with a completion date of September 30, 2010. No grant opportunities have been posted recently, and the portfolio shows no awards since 2009.
The program is structured as Cooperative Agreements exclusively, reflecting the collaborative nature of ongoing operations and maintenance between the federal funder and the recipient, the Perkins County Rural Water System, Inc. The Bureau of Reclamation is the sole funding agency active under this listing.
The program's scope encompasses planning and construction of new water supply systems and repairs to existing public water distribution systems within Perkins County, with stated objectives of resource conservation and system functionality. The 2002 award was structured with a completion horizon extending to September 2012, suggesting long-term capital infrastructure work.
No recent grant opportunities are available. Given the 17-year gap since the last award and the absence of posted solicitations, this program does not represent an active funding line for new applicants at this time. Organizations seeking water infrastructure funding from the Bureau of Reclamation should evaluate other active water resource development or rural water system programs rather than pursue opportunities under this specific listing.
