About this program

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development funds Capacity Building for Sustainable Communities (CFDA 14.705), a program that has not issued new grant awards since September 2013. The program identifies consortia of intermediary organizations to deliver capacity building support to communities engaged in integrated planning efforts spanning economic and workforce development, housing, land use, environmental remediation, transportation, and infrastructure investments. Grantees maintain a national coalition and leadership network providing online, virtual, and in-person training, technical assistance, and peer exchange on successful strategies, lessons learned, emerging tools, and public engagement approaches.

The program portfolio reflects minimal recent activity. A single Cooperative Agreement worth $125 thousand was awarded to CD SUSTAINING CAP BLDG on September 27, 2013, with completion scheduled for March 31, 2015. No grant awards have been documented in the thirteen years since that initial disbursement, and no recent grant opportunities are open. The program appears dormant or substantially inactive from a funding perspective.

Given the thirteen-year gap since the last documented award and the absence of any current solicitation, this program is not a productive pursuit target for organizations seeking active federal funding in community capacity building and sustainable development planning.
