About this program
The Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency is administering the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (CFDA 10.988), which provides financial assistance to agricultural producers for losses to crops, trees, bushes, and vines from qualifying disasters, with Stage 1 applications beginning in July 2025.
SDRP operates in two stages. Stage 1 targets producers who previously received crop insurance indemnities or Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) payments; FSA is generating and mailing pre-filled applications to eligible producers based on data already on file with FSA or USDA's Risk Management Agency. Stage 2 covers losses not indemnified through crop insurance or NAP, including uninsured losses and losses that were insured or covered by NAP but did not trigger an indemnity. Eligible disaster events include wildfires, hurricanes, floods, derechos, excessive heat, winter storms, freeze (including polar vortex), smoke exposure, and excessive moisture. Drought losses are eligible only if the loss county was rated by the U.S. Drought Monitor as having D2 (severe drought) for eight consecutive weeks or D3 (extreme drought) or higher intensity at any point during the calendar year. The program covers losses from the 2023 and 2024 calendar years.
Applicants must submit an SDRP application and all required eligibility forms by FSA deadlines and retain supporting documentation for three years after approval. FSA will generate determinations on adverse decisions in accordance with 7 CFR parts 11 and 780 appeal regulations. The source does not specify a fixed dollar ceiling for individual awards or aggregate program funding. No recent grant awards are reported in the source. The Stage 1 application period begins in July 2025; the Stage 1 deadline and Stage 2 application period will be announced by FSA.
