About this program
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service provides federal financial assistance under CFDA 10.722 to establish, implement, and operate Emergency Notification Systems (Reverse 911) capable of delivering IPAWS-compliant emergency alerts to the public, with awards made by the Secretary of Agriculture per authorizing statute.
Eligible applicants are states, U.S. territories, and tribal agencies responsible for providing emergency alert services. State grantees may fund statewide projects, provide subgrants to local jurisdictions, or combine both approaches. Allowable uses include hardware, software, subscription services, administration and planning, training, consultant services, and system operation. Grants are awarded for one to five years and may be extended at the program manager's request.
The program prioritizes low-income communities, communities affected by severe disaster, and communities without an active emergency notification system in the past three years. Applications are submitted through Grants.gov, and selected applicants receive notification and awards from the Forest Service.
