About this program

The Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) administers the Virtual Lab School program (CFDA 10.337) to fund maintenance, support, and ongoing development of a virtual learning platform delivering professional development to child development program staff, particularly on military installations. No current grant opportunities or recent awards are documented in the source.

The program supports a defined set of activities: maintaining the Virtual Lab School web presence, developing competencies for providers, trainers, and managers in child, youth, and family care environments, piloting competencies on military installations as they are developed, delivering training to installation-level personnel, and collecting user feedback to drive system improvements and content enhancement. Funding is restricted to these authorized purposes; indirect costs are capped at 30 percent of total federal funds awarded under the grant.

The program is open to state agricultural experiment stations, state cooperative extension services, colleges and universities, research and extension institutions, federal agencies, private organizations and corporations, and individuals. Applicants must satisfy all requirements specified in the Notice of Funding Opportunity; failure to meet eligibility criteria by the application deadline results in exclusion from consideration.

Grant funds must be obligated by September 30 of the federal fiscal year in which the project is approved, and recipients must maintain separate grant records for at least three years, subject to inspection throughout the grant period and retained longer if litigation or unresolved audit findings exist. Details regarding renewal terms and conditions appear in the NOFO.

The source provides no portfolio data on award volume, recent grant awards, award magnitudes, assistance-type distribution, or open solicitation timelines. No recent funding activity or pending grant opportunities are visible in the documentation provided.
