About this opportunity

The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is requesting quotations for welding supplies, parts, and repair services on an as-needed basis, with quotations due October 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time through the City's Long Beach Buys portal. A 10% local-vendor preference applies to Long Beach-based businesses holding a current city business license and seller's permit.

The scope spans approximately 97 line items including welding rods, grinding wheels, abrasive discs, safety equipment, welding helmets, gloves, electrode holders, hoses, nozzles, cutting tips, and specialized tools, plus repair services for welding equipment. Bidders must demonstrate capability to service specific Miller equipment models, Thermal Arc PAK 10XR, and Lincoln Electric 180 Dual machines. Delivery and repair service completion must occur within five business days of purchase order receipt unless otherwise directed, with delivery to the Water Warehouse (1841 E 33rd Street, Long Beach, CA 90807) or Gas Warehouse (2400 E Spring Street, Long Beach, CA 90806) between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Repair service response time at contractor site must be within twenty-four hours of release notice, with emergency services completed within twenty-four hours or same-day if possible.

The contract term is twelve months with two optional one-year renewal periods by mutual agreement. Unit prices and percentage discounts must remain firm for the one-year contract term; price increases are not acceptable and may result in contract cancellation. Award will be based on unit prices, percentage discounts, and compliance with specification requirements. LBPUD reserves the right to award single or multiple contracts and to order different quantities than estimated based on operational needs.

Contractors must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $1 million combined single limit per occurrence, automobile liability of $500,000, and workers' compensation as required by California law before commencing work. All required bid documents including bid form, current price lists or catalogs, and the Local Preference Form must be uploaded through the portal.
