About this opportunity
Austin Energy, a division of the City of Austin, is requesting proposals for utility pump maintenance and replacement services under RFP 1100 MMH3041, with proposals due July 23, 2026. The City reserves the right to make multiple contract awards to ensure contractor availability for scheduled and emergency services across multiple facilities.
The scope encompasses maintenance, outage support, upgrades, and emergency response for large utility-size pumps at Decker Creek Power Station, Sand Hill Energy Center, and four district cooling plants throughout the Austin area. Services include pump replacement, machining, alignment, welding, balancing, and testing. Contractors must supply labor, supervision, tools, equipment, materials, and subcontract services. Work is performed on a 24/7 expedited basis unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Required personnel include a Project Manager with five years of experience, a Field Technical Advisor with five years of experience, a Field Supervisor with five years of supervisory experience, Millwrights/Mechanics with four years of experience, an Alignment Specialist with ten years of experience, and qualified Rigging Foremen and Crane Operators. Contractors must provide Original Equipment Manufacturer parts or Austin Energy–approved equivalents and comply with applicable federal, state, and local standards.
The initial contract term is 12 months with options for up to four additional 12-month renewals. Work is performed across multiple locations in Travis County and the City of Austin. Contractors are responsible for transportation, rigging, packaging, and specialized equipment; Austin Energy provides temporary electrical service, site access, and available drawings. Final project reports must be submitted within 30 days of completion with photographs, measurements, and test results. All parts and services carry a one-year warranty from acceptance or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
