About this opportunity

The District of Columbia is soliciting bids on the UNICOR Elevator Modernization Project, an 8(a) set-aside under NAICS 236220 (Commercial and Institutional Building Construction), with proposals due August 28, 2026. Eligibility is restricted to firms certified as small disadvantaged businesses under the federal 8(a) program.

The scope encompasses modernization of four elevator systems at UNICOR Central Office, 400 First Street NW, Washington, DC: three passenger traction elevators and one service traction elevator. Work includes replacement of major components — gearless and geared AC machines, VVVF drives, controllers, governors, safeties, door operators, car operating panels, and emergency communication systems — plus interior finishes. The project extends beyond elevator work to include asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint removal and disposal, concrete and masonry repairs, exterior door and stair installations, metal fabrications, fireproofing and firestopping, new metal doors and frames, fire sprinkler alterations, sump pump installation, new VRF HVAC systems, electrical and lighting modifications, fire alarm and communications systems updates, and chain-link partition replacement.

All work must comply with ASME A17.1 standards, International Building Codes, and OSHA requirements. The awardee is responsible for field verification of all quantities and measurements and must furnish all supervision, labor, supplies, materials, licenses, permits, testing, inspections, machinery, tools, equipment, and services required to complete the work.

No contract value, term, or award date is specified in the available documentation.
