About this opportunity

The University at Albany is issuing a Request for Information on campus transit services with responses due October 22, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time — a market-research exercise with no contract award or binding commitment resulting from responses.

The University seeks vendor information on fixed-route, on-demand, and special-event transit operations to inform future procurement strategy. The scope encompasses vendor profiles and experience with higher-education transit; integrated fixed-route and on-demand operating models; service delivery and operations management; fleet management and sustainability practices including zero-emission vehicle strategies; technology platforms and real-time tracking; staffing recruitment and retention; safety and regulatory compliance; transition and implementation approaches; customer service models; and cost structures including hourly rate-based, fixed-fee, monthly recurring, and hybrid pricing models. Respondents should not submit pricing commitments or guaranteed staffing models.

Current operations run fixed-route service during the academic year (approximately 32 weeks: mid-August through mid-December and mid-January through mid-May) with weekday hours 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on 20–25 minute intervals and weekend service 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on 25-minute intervals. On-demand service operates during break periods (approximately 20 weeks: mid-May through mid-August and mid-December through mid-January) with weekday hours 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and no current weekend service. The anticipated service term for any future contract is July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2032.

All submitted materials become property of the University for planning and future procurement development. Questions on technical aspects are due October 14, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Submit responses to Colin Fadden at cfadden@albany.edu with "RFI 92526 Transit Services" in the subject line. Participation is voluntary with no bearing on evaluation of any future procurement.
