About this opportunity
The County of Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is seeking qualified vendors to provide Trailing Bloodhound Canine and Handler Investigative Services through a Master Agreement on an as-needed basis for the Homicide Bureau. The primary objective is to engage canine and handler teams capable of conducting specialized scent-trailing and tracking investigations throughout Los Angeles County. Vendors must provide at least one certified handler and one scent-trailing/tracking bloodhound canine, along with necessary tools and equipment to support investigative services. Mandatory qualifications include canine certification from a recognized canine facility, training across various geographical terrains, and handlers who are physically capable of conducting searches in diverse environments. The canines must also be up-to-date on all vaccinations, including rabies, with documentation of certifications and vaccinations required for submission. The procurement is structured as a Request for Statement of Qualifications (RFSQ) with the identification number 540-SH, originally posted on August 27, 2014, with a due date of January 16, 3025. Vendors will be expected to respond to investigative locations and potentially make court appearances as approved by the Department.
While the document does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises, it provides comprehensive requirements for vendor qualifications. The procurement appears open to private investigation or canine service providers who can meet the stringent technical and operational standards. No specific budget range or award value is mentioned in the available text, suggesting that compensation will likely be determined through negotiation and based on specific investigative service requirements. The contract is structured as a Master Agreement, indicating potential multiple vendor selections with services rendered on an as-needed basis. The procurement approach suggests the Sheriff's Department is seeking flexible, high-quality investigative support from specialized canine teams with proven tracking capabilities. The long-term nature of the solicitation, with a due date far in the future, implies the Department is establishing a long-standing pool of qualified service providers for ongoing investigative support.
