Tessitura software, membership, services, and licensing

The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs is procuring Tessitura software, membership, services, and licensing under a sole-source determination, with proposals due July 29, 2026. Tessitura Network, a nonprofit member-owned organization and the exclusive developer and licensor of the Tessitura software system, is identified as the only available source; no authorized resellers exist, and the Department has invested approximately $300,000 since fiscal year 2021 in customization, configuration, training, and hardware supporting the system's implementation.

The scope includes access to the Tessitura Cloud Platform for onsite and online ticket sales with general admission and reserved seating capabilities; membership in the Tessitura Network with unlimited 24/7 technical support; PCI-compliant webhosting for online credit card transactions; and N-Scan software licenses for handheld access control devices. The system serves the Department's museums, historic sites, and performing arts venues, including three theaters at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

The contract term runs four years, from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030. The total contract amount is $393,713 before tax, with estimated tax of $32,235.25. The Department's sole-source justification rests on Tessitura Network's exclusive ownership and licensing of the software; the prohibition on alternative vendors; and the operational and financial risk of migrating to an alternative system, which would result in loss of the agency's prior investment and three years of accumulated ticket sales data critical to performance measurement.
