About this opportunity

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is requesting sealed proposals for the Stormwater Master Plan Implementation Phase 1 project, a bioretention cell system and hardscape plaza construction on Craver Road adjacent to the Popp-Martin Student Union, with proposals due August 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a pre-bid meeting on July 20 at 3:30 p.m.

General contractors must hold an UNLIMITED BUILDING classification under North Carolina General Contractors Licensing Board standards — the principal eligibility requirement. Bids will be received on a single-prime, lump-sum basis. The scope encompasses construction of the Burson SCM bioretention cell system and hardscape plaza spaces designed for pedestrian gathering and educational use.

A 5% bid bond from a North Carolina-licensed surety company or equivalent cash deposit or certified check is required with each proposal. Performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price are mandatory. Payment will be made based on 95% of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance of work. No bid may be withdrawn for 30 days after the scheduled closing time; all bids remain valid for 90 days.

Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents are available for inspection at McAdams Company (2100 S Tryon Street, Suite 400, Charlotte) and electronically through Construct Connect, Dodge Data & Analytics (North Carolina Offices), and the Metrolina Minority Contractors Association. Proposals will be opened publicly immediately after the 2:00 p.m. deadline at the FOPS Building, Room 123A, 9643 Poplar Lane, Charlotte. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
