About this opportunity
The Town of Sherman, Connecticut is requesting proposals for architectural and engineering services for the Sherman Senior Center Building Project, with proposals due July 17, 2026. Connecticut prefers proposals from firms with demonstrated experience in senior center or similar public facility renovations and encourages participation from Connecticut-based or locally established A/E firms.
The scope encompasses comprehensive design and engineering services for renovation and expansion of the Sherman Senior Center facility, including architectural design, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical systems design, and related professional services necessary to prepare construction documents and specifications. The engagement term covers design development through construction administration services.
Evaluation criteria focus on firm qualifications, relevant project experience, staffing expertise, and technical approach. A/E services will be priced according to the fee proposal submitted by each firm, which should itemize all costs including consultant and subconsultant fees, reimbursable expenses, and other direct costs. Firms should clearly detail compensation for all phases of work from schematic design through construction administration.
A pre-proposal meeting or site visit is available for bidders to review the existing facility and understand project requirements. Funding is derived from state appropriations designated for senior center improvements and capital projects. The contract will be awarded to the firm deemed most qualified and responsive to the state's needs.
