About this opportunity

Ipswich Public Schools is requesting bids for removal and replacement of two end-of-life commercial boilers — one oil-fired steam boiler at Paul F Doyon Memorial Elementary School and one gas-fired hot water boiler at Ipswich Middle/High School — with bids due August 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and anticipated award on or about August 25, 2026. Bidders may submit proposals for one or both projects; separate contracts will be awarded for each school. Work must be completed by December 31, 2026.

The Doyon Elementary boiler (1965 Weil McClain oil-fired steam model) requires replacement with a new oil-fired boiler equipped with automated controls and BACnet capability. The Middle/High School boiler (1998 Cleaver Brooks gas-fired hot water model) requires replacement with a new gas-fired boiler of similar specifications. Bidders must hold necessary licenses and certifications for boiler installation and must provide workers' compensation and general commercial liability insurance. All employees and agents working on school grounds are subject to CORI background checks.

Bid packages must include written acknowledgment of scope and prevailing wage requirements, signed cost proposals, a non-collusion form, tax compliance certification, performance and professional references, and a bid deposit equal to 5 percent of the total bid value as a certified check. The School District will award contracts to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest total overall price for each project. Contracts are subject to Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements. Successful bidders must provide a one-year guarantee on workmanship plus applicable manufacturer warranties. Payment is withheld until project completion or agreed-upon phased components are finished.

A non-mandatory site walk-through and question-and-answer session is scheduled for August 14, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at the Middle/High School (134 High Street) and 10:00 a.m. at Doyon Elementary (216 Linebrook Road). The project is funded through capital funding approved by Annual Town Meeting on May 12, 2026.
