About this opportunity
The City of Fort Worth is requesting quotes for biomedical waste and USDA regulated collection services on an as-needed basis with quotes due September 7, 2026. The solicitation is subject to the City's Small Business Program under Ordinance No. 27832-08-2025.
Services cover biomedical waste (sharps, needles, syringes, medical cultures, laboratory waste), pharmaceutical waste (expired, unused, and over-the-counter medications), and USDA regulated garbage from international aircraft operations. The contractor must service multiple City locations: Fort Worth Meacham International Airport, FWFD EMS Central Operations, Henry's Animal Campus, the Environmental Resource Center, and Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex. Routine pickups must be completed within three business days; all requested services within ten business days.
The contractor must maintain all federal, state, and local licenses and permits for transporting and disposing of regulated waste, comply with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DSHS, USDA, CBP, and DHS regulations, and hold Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility permits throughout the contract term. Pricing must remain firm for the contract term and include all freight and delivery costs; annual price adjustments are permitted only upon renewal with 90 days' advance written notice and documented cost increase evidence.
The initial contract term is one year with four optional one-year renewal periods contingent on 90 days' advance notice of non-renewal. The City reserves the right to make multiple awards to ensure adequate coverage. Awards will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder whose bid price is reasonable and in the City's best interest. Quantities in the bid table are estimates based on previous usage and do not guarantee minimum purchase volumes. Successful bidders must register for direct deposit payment prior to service delivery. Invoices are due within Net 30 days.
