About this opportunity
The County of San Diego is requesting quotations for rectangular HDPE shade sail awnings and installation services at the Polinsky Children's Center, with quotations due July 24, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory job walk is scheduled for July 20, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at 9400 Ruffin Court, San Diego, California 92123, with RSVPs required by 8:45 a.m. via BuyNet discussion functionality.
The scope requires provision and installation of two rectangular HDPE shade sail awnings—one measuring 43'9" × 32' and one measuring 32'2" × 20'—over existing playground equipment and swing structures at the children's center. Work includes reuse of current post structures with new shade/awning attachment hardware meeting all applicable safety and structural standards, onsite assessment of existing structures, permit acquisition if necessary, ADA-compliant work zones, and post-installation inspection documentation with corrective callbacks completed within 24 hours.
Contractors must hold an active California State License Board Classification D-3 Awnings Contractor license and maintain current State of California Department of Industrial Relations registration. Pricing must be firm fixed and all-inclusive with FOB destination shipping terms, excluding sales and use taxes, with separate line items for each shade sail awning, installation labor, and warranty. If the total contract value exceeds $25,000, payment and performance bonds equal to 100% of the contract total are required. The County awards based on lowest price evaluation. The contract term extends from the date of last signature through completion and County acceptance of all deliverables, with a one-year warranty guarantee on all labor and materials. Payment terms are NET 30 unless more favorable to the County; qualified Small-Local Businesses may be eligible for NET 15 terms under Board Policy B-53. Written questions are due July 22, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Submission requirements include completed forms PC600, PC601, PC610 (Small-Local Business Self-Certification), and PC620 (Nondisclosure Indemnification Agreement if applicable), along with the completed pricing schedule.
