About this opportunity

The County of San Diego, Department of Aging and Independence Services, Public Administrator/Public Guardian is requesting quotations for auction and liquidation services supporting estate liquidation, with quotes due August 20, 2026 and questions due August 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The RFQ is organized into two separate lots — Lot 1 for vehicles (passenger cars, trucks, vans, vintage automobiles, recreational vehicles, motor homes, and boats) and Lot 2 for firearms and ammunition — and offerors may respond to either or both lots.

Mandatory qualifications include a minimum of five years' auctioneering experience with at least two years in estate property auctions; a DMV Vehicle Dealer license for Lot 1; Federal Firearms License and California Firearm Dealer Licensure compliance for Lot 2; compliance with California Code Section 1812.600; and establishment as a DMV private industry partner (vehicles only). Contractors must maintain physical office locations and staffing within San Diego County.

Compensation is fixed-price based on a percentage of net sale proceeds, with separate pricing for each lot covering auctioneer commission, transportation fees, and ancillary services (tire services and rekey services for vehicles; pickup and transportation for firearms). All pricing must remain firm and fixed for the contract term with no increases permitted. The contractor bears all costs for property storage, security, advertising, website maintenance with photography, digital publication, appraisals, title clearance, and transportation; the County is responsible only for item removal and return costs.

The initial contract term runs one year beginning July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, with four optional one-year renewal periods available through June 30, 2031. The County reserves the right to extend the agreement for up to six additional months in one-month increments at the end of the term. Contractors must remit proceeds to the County within ten business days of each auction. All submissions are made through the County's BuyNet procurement portal.
