About this opportunity
Sarasota County is requesting bids on resurfacing South McCall Road and other South County roads, including milling, paving, striping, ADA modifications, and base repairs under IFB 262905MH, with bids due September 23, 2026 and a pre-bid meeting or site visit as specified in the OpenGov Procurement system. The project is funded through Local Agency Program (LAP) requirements, under which FDOT minority business enterprise subcontracting rules take precedence.
Contractor qualification requires demonstrated experience or FDOT prequalification in hot plant-mixed bituminous courses, flexible paving, and pavement marking, with a minimum total contract experience of $1,000,000. Bidders must submit Contractor Qualification Forms or FDOT Prequalification Forms, maintain licensure as general contractors authorized to do business in Sarasota County, and provide a Letter of Bondability demonstrating surety capacity of at least $1,000,000. Performance and payment bonds of 100% of the contract amount are required for bids of $200,000 or more.
Insurance requirements include workers' compensation per Florida Statutes Chapter 440, commercial general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, business automobile liability of $1,000,000 combined single limit, and umbrella/excess liability of $2,000,000 each occurrence and in the aggregate. All bidders must complete the pricing table and vendor questionnaire in OpenGov. The County will award to the responsive and responsible bidder submitting the lowest total base bid price plus County-selected alternates, provided the bid is reasonable and in the County's best interest. Contract performance must reach substantial completion within 160 calendar days from Notice to Proceed or within 45 calendar days of award, whichever comes first. Liquidated damages apply for delays beyond the required substantial completion date per General Provisions Section 8-10. Bid opening is at the date and time listed in the OpenGov system.
