About this opportunity

Broward County, Florida is issuing a Request for Information on DeZurik/APCO valves, parts, and repair services with responses due September 29, 2026, to determine whether the specified commodity is available from multiple providers or if an alternate product could meet the County's needs prior to potential sole-source designation. Controls Specialties, Inc. is currently identified as the exclusive provider.

This is not a request for pricing or a purchase commitment. The RFI questionnaire requires vendors to confirm their status as authorized suppliers of DeZurik/APCO valves and demonstrate capability to provide maintenance and repair services, including valves equipped with electric actuators compatible with SCADA systems for remote operation to meet permit compliance requirements, with installation support availability. Vendors must verify experience with municipal or county wastewater facilities in compliance-driven environments; proven capability to engineer valves for process-specific applications such as sludge thickening, digestion, and aeration; demonstrated experience supplying DeZurik valves or equivalent equipment for wastewater treatment; SCADA communication compatibility for remote monitoring and control; access to qualified technical specialists for configuration and commissioning support; preventive maintenance programs with documented schedules; access to qualified service personnel for troubleshooting and repair; and availability of spare parts with documented response time commitments.

These valve components are essential for ensuring compliance with the State-issued wastewater disposal permit. The Director of Purchasing retains sole authority in determining whether submitted alternatives are comparable to the specified commodity and meet the County's needs, with this decision not subject to objection, protest, or appeal.
