About this opportunity
The Board of Education of the Oceanside Unified School District is requesting bids on a district-wide fencing project comprising removal and replacement of wrought iron fencing at five school campuses, with bids due August 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via PlanetBids. This is a prevailing wage public works project subject to California Labor Code requirements.
Bidders must hold either a California State Contractor's License Classification B (General) or C-13 (Fencing Contractor) and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations at bid opening. The scope spans McAuliffe Elementary (approximately 125 linear feet), Nichols Leadership Academy (approximately 180 linear feet), Foussat Language Academy (approximately 180 linear feet), Martin Luther King Middle School (approximately 360 linear feet), and Ivey Ranch Elementary School (approximately 110 linear feet). Work includes removal and disposal of existing fencing, fabrication of 6-foot-high galvanized wrought iron fencing with new hinge posts, installation of pedestrian and drive gates with specified hardware, and site-specific matching to existing fence designs. All materials must be new and of school-grade quality with specified gauge requirements for pickets, rails, and posts; pregalvanized materials are permitted if fabricated and powder-coated as specified.
The estimated project value is $360,000. A bid bond or certified check equal to 10 percent of the bid amount is required; successful bidders must provide separate performance and payment bonds each equal to 100 percent of the contract amount. The District has established a 5 percent retention amount and will use the base bid price to determine the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. The District anticipates board approval of the award on September 9, 2026, with an estimated project completion date of February 19, 2027. Bid protests must be submitted in writing within three calendar days following issuance of the Notice of Intent to Award.
