About this opportunity

The Port of Tacoma is requesting proposals for Parcel 12 Ditch Maintenance Site Clean Up and Tree Removal 2026, with proposals due August 19, 2026. The project encompasses dredging, excavation, tree removal, material disposal coordination, and site restoration on a contaminated parcel in Pierce County, Washington.

Work includes dredging the Fife ditch from south of 4th Street to north of Taylor Way to remove sediment and vegetation; excavating approximately 12 inches of material dominated by invasive Reed Canary Grass and Yellow Flag Iris; removing approximately 6 inches of debris-laden soil from a former homeless encampment (containing general refuse, batteries, clothing, tools, sporadic drug paraphernalia, building materials, and other debris); and excavating approximately 24 inches of slag-like material prior to any other ground-disturbing activity within 10 feet of the anticipated boundary. All excavated material from these phases will be combined on site and transported to LRI's facility at 304th and Meridian for disposal, with the Port paying tipping fees and applicable tax directly to LRI.

The scope also requires removal of approximately 80 to 90 percent of trees on site. Trees or portions laden with human impacts (screws, anchor bolts, metal brackets, wires, or invasive plant material) will be removed off-site to an appropriate disposal facility. Non-impacted tree branches, trunk sections, stumps, and root wads will be salvaged, mulched on site, and transported to an adjacent Port facility for stockpiling and future reuse. Trees marked to remain will receive protective installation. Disturbed areas and ditch side slopes require planting and restoration.

The RFP document (072026-1049.pdf) contains bid submission instructions, evaluation criteria, and contract terms; specific contract value and duration are not stated in the available source material.
