About this opportunity

The City of Miami Beach is soliciting bids on construction of two entrance signs in the North Beach area under ITB 2026-486-JP, with bids due electronically through BidNet Direct by 3:00 p.m. on September 24, 2026, and a mandatory pre-bid conference and site visits on August 25, 2026. Prevailing wage compliance and Davis-Bacon rates apply, triggered by the combined project budget exceeding $1.5 million.

Bidders must hold Florida or Miami-Dade County contractor licensing and demonstrate experience with at least two vertical construction projects of $500,000 or more within the last ten years (one completed, one ongoing), with qualified lead project managers and superintendents holding similar project experience. The contractor must self-perform a minimum of 20% of work and achieve a project goal of 30% of construction labor hours performed by Miami-Dade County residents.

The project comprises two separate entrance signs at 2057 71st Street (Normandy Isle western entrance at John F. Kennedy Causeway, Bay Drive, and Normandy Drive) and at Harding Avenue and 87th Street (adjacent to 8635 Harding Avenue). Each features large channel letters spelling "MIAMI BEACH" (4'-10" height at 71st Street) mounted at the base of an architectural canopy supported by rectilinear piers with perforations designed to allow palm trees to weave through the structure. The 71st Street sign replaces an existing entrance sign. The first site is within FDOT right-of-way.

The estimated budgets are $727,400 for the 71st Street site and $632,800 for the Harding Avenue site. Contract time is 240 calendar days for substantial completion and 30 calendar days for final completion at both sites. Liquidated damages are $500/day for the 71st Street site and $400/day for the Harding Avenue site. Bidders must submit a bid bond equal to 5%, along with performance and payment bonds, and maintain comprehensive insurance including $2,000,000 general liability and $10,000,000 umbrella liability. The project is subject to Art in Public Places provisions requiring 2% of project costs, Florida Trench Safety Act requirements, and multiple permit requirements from city, state, and federal agencies. Questions are due September 10, 2026 by 5:00 p.m.
