About this opportunity

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is soliciting applications for the New York State Grown & Certified (NYS G&C) Cooperative Marketing Program, a competitive grant opportunity designed to increase producer sales by driving consumer demand for NYS G&C products. The program will distribute $500,000 in funding to agricultural producers, producer cooperatives, agricultural associations, and retailers participating in the NYS G&C program, with individual grant requests not exceeding $10,000. Eligible activities include modifying packaging, conducting point-of-purchase marketing, and creating print, radio, and digital marketing materials that expose consumers to the NYS G&C brand. Applicants must obtain pre-approval for marketing materials, provide baseline sales data, and ensure all promotional content includes the NYS G&C logo with measurable marketing metrics. The program requires projects to be completed within 6 months of the signed agreement, with a submission deadline of September 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Funding will be distributed on a reimbursement basis, and all applicants must be registered and prequalified in the New York State Financial System prior to application submission.

The grant opportunity has no specific set-aside designations for minority, women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, or disadvantaged businesses, with zero percent subcontracting goals across these categories. Eligibility is open to any agricultural producer, cooperative, association, or retailer in New York State currently participating in or newly enrolling in the NYS G&C program. Ineligible costs include indirect expenses, promotional items, gifts, prizes, and digital marketing without reportable metrics. The program is partially funded through a cooperative agreement with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, and successful applicants must comply with various state requirements, including workers' compensation and disability insurance regulations. Applicants of previous funding rounds must propose new projects, and all marketing materials funded through this grant cannot be sold. The total available funding is $500,000, with awards distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted, and each project is limited to a maximum of $10,000 in funding.
