About this opportunity

North Carolina Central University is requesting Letters of Interest and current SF-330 forms from qualified design firms for advance planning services on the Richmond Residence Hall (Phase 1) project, with submissions due August 11, 2026 at 3:00 PM, and a non-mandatory pre-proposal walkthrough scheduled for August 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

The scope covers advance planning for renovation and remediation of Richmond Residence Hall, which has been offline since May 2022. Work includes mold remediation, HVAC system replacement and conversion to a four-pipe system with dedicated chiller installation, ventilation unit upgrades, plumbing repairs, fire alarm and sprinkler system component replacement, building automation and electrical system modernization, selective finish and lighting replacement, and elevator and mechanical space repairs. The project budget is $20 million; current authorization is limited to advance planning services only, though the selected firm may be retained by the University's option through full design and construction phases.

Requests for Information are due by 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The non-mandatory walkthrough is at Richmond Hall with parking available at the Latham Parking Deck. Submissions should be directed electronically to Amanda Hodge, Facilities Management – Capital Projects, at ahodge22@nccu.edu or by phone at (919) 530-7791.
