Opportunity text
This project consists of construction of 1 detention basin on Flood Control District land north of the City of Kingman with access from Grace Neal Parkway. The work site is located in a portion of Sections 15 & 22 of Township 22 North, Range 16 West. The basin is designed to be formed by excavation and embankment. Mohave County Flood Control District purchased 100 acres just north of the Mohave Wash & Rattlesnake Wash confluence with the intent of contributing infiltrated stormwater to the aquifer. A series of 5 basins was designed across the 100-acre parcel to infiltrate as much as 144 acre-feet of stormwater. Phase 1 construction was completed May 31, 2026. Phase 2 is underway with the construction of Basin 3 and 4. Phase 3 is for the construction of Basin 5. The detention basins will provide flood control benefits to the City of Kingman Wastewater Treatment plant downstream. Impounded storm runoff may also contribute to the aquifer by infiltration into the ground for a period of time after a storm.
