About this opportunity
The City of Boston is requesting bids on four new mid-size 4WD SUVs for the Boston Fire Department under Event EV00017931, with sealed bids due September 23, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. and public bid opening the same day at One City Hall Square Room 808. This is a firm, fixed-price procurement awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
Vehicles must be new models of the latest production year and meet detailed compliance specifications including a minimum 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine, electronically controlled 10-speed automatic transmission, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and a GVWR of 6,160 pounds. All vehicles must comply with federal and state motor vehicle regulations and safety standards. The scope includes comprehensive factory warranty — 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage plus 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty with zero deductible roadside assistance — plus a 2-year warranty on all aftermarket equipment. Emergency response equipment is specified: warning lights, sirens, LED hideaway lights, cargo lights, Motorola APX 8500 mobile radio, weathertech liners, rain guards, and window tinting. All vehicles must be delivered complete, serviced, and ready to operate. Bidders must be certified dealerships and agree to pick up and deliver vehicles to the City for any required warranty work. Vendor training on maintenance and repair of all systems is required.
The contract term is one year. Delivery is a critical evaluation factor and must be coordinated through Chris Willett at the Boston Fire Department, 617-343-3312, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bid-specific information is available from Chris Radcliffe at 617-635-3422 or Christopher.Radcliffe@boston.gov through the City of Boston Supplier Portal. Bidders must submit a Certificate of Authority (CM-06 form), Wage Theft Prevention Form (CM-16), and compliance documentation. The contract is contingent upon available appropriation and subject to Massachusetts prevailing wage laws if applicable, non-discrimination requirements, CORI compliance, debarment certifications, and City of Boston Conflict of Interest Law. The maximum bid acceptance period is 90 days from bid opening.
