About this opportunity

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is soliciting proposals for development, scale-up, and demonstration of large-scale, non-drop-in alternative fuel-based energy systems and supporting infrastructure, with proposals due September 28, 2026.

The scope covers integrated production, storage, distribution, and end-use systems for hydrogen and other non-drop-in fuels (including ammonia) optimized for industrial and grid-support applications in hard-to-electrify sectors. Demonstration projects must be located within New York State at eligible sites, but the proposing entity need not be based in or currently operating in New York. The proposed solution must demonstrate technical feasibility, system integration, and compatibility with New York's regulatory, safety, and operational environment.

NYSERDA requires a minimum proposing team composition: a technology developer with demonstrated expertise in the proposed system; an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm or equivalent system integrator for demonstration projects; a host site owner/operator located in New York State for demonstration projects; and relevant partners supporting fuel supply, infrastructure, or system integration as applicable. Proposals must clearly align with NYSERDA's stated objectives for advancing decarbonization and enabling reliable, zero-emission energy solutions.
