About this opportunity
The State of Vermont, specifically Washington County (FIPS Code 50023), is soliciting construction bids for the Jockey Hollow Dam Removal project under contract opportunity ID 682cf9fc29515fddaa0b2e68. The procurement is focused on comprehensive dam and environmental restoration work to be executed between August 1, 2025, and October 1, 2025. Primary project tasks include complete removal of a concrete dam (approximately 200 cubic yards), associated dam remains, and strategic environmental restoration activities. Specific work elements encompass tree removal, sediment extraction and transportation from river and floodplain (approximately 1,600 cubic yards), invasive species management, stream channel restoration utilizing onsite bed materials, floodplain restoration incorporating wood elements, and comprehensive site restoration. The bid is due by June 20, 2025, with potential contractors required to demonstrate expertise in dam removal, environmental restoration, sediment management, and ecological reconstruction techniques.
While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements are explicitly noted in the contract documentation, potential bidders should possess significant environmental engineering and dam removal capabilities. The project appears targeted at professional construction and environmental restoration firms with demonstrated experience in complex river ecosystem modification projects. Though an exact project budget is not specified, the comprehensive nature of the work—involving dam removal, sediment management, and ecological restoration—suggests a substantial capital investment. The project's scope indicates a need for specialized equipment, environmental expertise, and precise engineering capabilities to successfully execute the multi-faceted restoration objectives. Interested contractors should carefully review the full bid specifications and be prepared to demonstrate technical proficiency in both structural removal and ecological reconstruction methodologies.
