About this opportunity

The City of Worcester is soliciting sealed bids for HVAC upgrades at the Hope Cemetery Office Building, with bids due September 16, 2026, and a pre-bid site visit on September 9. DCAMM Certification in HVAC is a mandatory eligibility requirement — only contractors holding a current DCAM Certificate of Eligibility in this category with single-project capacity exceeding the estimated project cost are eligible to submit bids.

The scope encompasses all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision for complete HVAC installation and upgrades in accordance with attached specifications. Bids must include a certified check or bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid, payable to the City Treasurer. The successful bidder must furnish a Performance Bond and a labor and materials payment bond, each for not less than 100% of the contract amount, and execute the contract within five business days of contract presentation.

The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and eligible general bidder under M.G.L. Chapter 149, Section 44A. The City of Worcester is exempt from federal excise taxes and Massachusetts state sales tax; bidders must exclude these taxes from quoted prices. All work must comply with applicable Massachusetts General Laws, including prevailing wage requirements, worker safety regulations, and noise ordinance restrictions. No sub-bids are required to be filed.

The bid opening is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 16, 2026, at the Purchasing Division, Room 201, City Hall, 455 Main Street, Worcester. The pre-bid site visit is strongly encouraged on September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hope Cemetery Main Office, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. Prospective bidders must submit written questions to Christopher J. Gagliastro, Purchasing Agent, at gagliastroc@worcesterma.gov.
