About this opportunity
Taylor School District in Michigan is requesting sealed bids for HVAC upgrades at Hoover Middle School, with bids due September 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the district administration office in Taylor. This is a single-prime contract encompassing removal and replacement of existing HVAC systems and related mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work.
The scope includes base HVAC work and optional alternates for cafeteria MEP work and gym/locker room MEP work. Site visits are available upon request to Dave Serra (dserra@tc.design); no pre-bid conference will be held. Proposed equal products or manufacturers must be submitted at least seven calendar days prior to bid opening via addendum for consideration. Questions must be submitted by email to Dave Serra; requests received less than 72 hours before opening may not be answered.
The project is scheduled for spring and summer 2027, potentially beginning in January 2027 and completing by August 2027. The district can accommodate work during the school year by moving students and restoring classrooms to original condition upon completion. The contractor must propose flexibility to start earlier or extend the schedule as needed.
Each bid must be accompanied by a bid guaranty and contract bond or a certified check, cashier's check, or money order equal to ten percent of the base bid plus all alternates. No bidder may withdraw their bid for 30 days after opening. Liquidated damages are set at $2,000 per calendar day for failure to achieve substantial completion by contract date.
Contractor qualifications will be evaluated based on experience on similar projects, financial stability, and past performance history. The owner reserves the right to waive informalities, reject any or all bids, and award to a bidder other than the lowest based on responsiveness and responsibility. Insurance requirements include $10 million general liability, $5 million auto liability, and $1 million workers' compensation minimum coverage for all subcontractors. Bidding documents are available through bidnet (bidnetdirect.com) or the district website.
