About this opportunity
Sarasota County is soliciting bids on repair, supply, and installation of wayfinding signs in Englewood under IFB #262854KR, with bids due September 7, 2026. Grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) applies; consequently, local and American business preferences do not apply to this award.
The scope includes evaluation and repair of 14 existing signs, fabrication and installation of 5–6 new signs, replacement of breakaway kits on five signs, and installation of new breakaway sign-pole bases with aluminum covers. All work must comply with FDOT standards and Attachment B specifications. The signs were originally installed in 2022 during the West Dearborn Street Improvement Project and sustained severe damage during the 2024 hurricane season; some fell and broke their concrete bases, and several are missing altogether. The project must be completed within twelve months of receipt of the County Purchase Order.
Bidders must submit responses through the OpenGov Procurement portal and provide a minimum of two references demonstrating sign fabrication and installation experience within the past seven years. Any proposed substitutions must be submitted by the question deadline for County approval. Insurance requirements include Workers' Compensation per Florida Statutes Chapter 440, Commercial General Liability of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence, and Business Automobile Liability of not less than $1,000,000 combined single limit. If the award amount exceeds $350,000, the successful bidder must obtain a performance and payment bond equal to 100 percent of the contract amount from a bonding company licensed in Florida with an A.M. Best rating of A- or better. All work and materials are warranted for one year from County acceptance or the standard warranty period provided by the contractor or materials manufacturer, whichever is greater. The County will award the contract to the responsive and responsible bidder submitting the lowest total bid price.

Sarasota County seeks a contractor to repair, supply and install wayfinding signs in Englewood. These signs were originally installed in 2022 during the West Dearborn Street Improvement Project. These signs were severely damaged during the 2024 hurricane season and need to be repaired or replaced. Some signs completely fell over and broke their concrete bases but still have footers intact. The fallen signs and the loose signs were removed by the County while some are missing altogether.
