About this opportunity

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is requesting quotations for replacement of two worn-out air compressors at the East Metro Bus Facility in Aurora, Colorado, with quotations due August 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., and a non-mandatory pre-quote meeting scheduled for July 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at 14100 E Colfax Ave, Aurora. RTD will award a single purchase order to the lowest responsive bidder on a fixed-price basis. No SBE participation goal is established, but RTD encourages offerors to document and explain efforts to include SBEs in subcontracting, supplier, and workforce opportunities.

The scope requires demolition of existing compressors and installation of two correctly sized, energy-efficient variable-speed air compressors—one 15 HP and one 30 HP—along with new compressed air filters and a refrigerated air dryer. The compressors must deliver 25 CFM at 125 PSI operating pressure, meet or exceed ASME standards, and operate at 80 decibels or less. Outdoor air intakes must draw fresh air directly to the compressor suction; compressor cooling air may be sourced from the compressor room. Specifications include proper foundation mounting, vibration isolation, electrical connections with disconnect switches, pressure relief valves, moisture separation, and air quality filtration. All work must conform to attached plans and specifications in the drawing package.

The contract period of performance is six months. Quotations must remain valid for a minimum of 90 days from the due date. Bid security of 5 percent of the bid amount is required, submissible as a bid bond, cashier's check, certified check, or cash. Within ten days of award, the contractor must provide a performance bond and payment bond, each equal to 50 percent of the purchase order cost. Required insurance includes Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence, automobile liability of $1,000,000, and workers' compensation with statutory limits. The contractor is responsible for safety compliance, asbestos notification and clearance, hazardous materials management, accident reporting, site cleanup, and property restoration.

The inquiry period deadline is July 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with question responses due August 4, 2026. RTD intends to announce the selected contractor on September 7, 2026. Contact: Ryan Miller, Buyer, at ryan.miller@rtd-denver.com or (303) 299-2486.
