About this opportunity

The District of Columbia Department of General Services, on behalf of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS), is requesting proposals for architectural and engineering design services for the modernization of Engine House 15 located at 2101 14th Street SE, Washington DC 20020, with proposals due August 17, 2026. The solicitation is issued through the Department of Small and Local Business Development, signaling potential set-aside or preference provisions for small and local businesses in the District.

The scope encompasses professional design services for a significant renovation and expansion of the existing District-owned facility, including new construction of a second-story addition. The preferred approach is to renovate and expand the current structure on the existing site with potential vertical expansion (second story). If updated program requirements cannot be fully accommodated within the current parcel (SSL: 5781-0994), the project may expand onto the adjacent District-owned parcel (SSL: 5781-0998) located directly behind Engine House 15 to provide additional capacity for apparatus bay, living quarters, and parking. Interested firms should reference the attached DC Property Quest information for current and adjacent parcel details.
