About this opportunity
San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is requesting proposals for preventative maintenance on two water purification systems at its Forensic Laboratory (50 Tower Road, San Mateo, California) with proposals due September 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., and contract award anticipated October 1, 2026. A local-vendor preference applies: local businesses receive 5%, local small or micro businesses receive 8%, and local micro businesses receive 10% preferential scoring under the County's Procurement Preference for Local Businesses and Local Non-Profits Ordinance.
The scope comprises biannual preventative maintenance visits in November 2026 and May 2027 for a Millipore Elix 20 Water Purification System (producing Type II deionized water) and a Milli-Q Advantage A10 Water Purification System (producing Type I deionized water for the Forensic Biology Unit). Maintenance includes general inspections, component replacement, system performance verification, cleaning and sanitization, calibration procedures, and comprehensive service documentation.
Minimum qualifications require four years of similar-services experience within the last seven years, an account manager with two years of experience within the last five years, SAM registration, and provision of business registration information. The contract term is one year with two optional one-year extension periods exercisable at the County's sole discretion, requiring thirty days' written notice before term end. No maximum price or contract value is specified.
Evaluation uses a weighted scoring methodology: 50 points for minimum qualifications (58.8% of total), 25 points for price as the low-cost reward (29.4% of total), and up to 10 points for local-vendor preference (11.8% of total). Proposers must complete pre-submission registration and submit all documents electronically via the County's eProcurement portal, including a separate fee proposal in PDF format. No pre-proposal conference or site visit is scheduled.
