About this opportunity

The State University Construction Fund is requesting Statements of Qualifications from design and construction administration consultants for a new BioTech Multidisciplinary Research Building at SUNY Stony Brook, with SOQs due September 10, 2026.

The project will construct an approximately 68,000 GSF five-story slab-on-grade research facility directly connected to the existing Medical and Research Translation Building. The building will provide flexible laboratory environments including open-concept biomedical laboratories, cell culture rooms, terminal rodent procedure rooms, environmental and cold rooms, heavy equipment bays, centralized fume hood alcoves, and glassware wash and autoclave facilities. Building infrastructure will include laboratory gas distribution, reverse-osmosis/deionized water systems, and high-efficiency laboratory exhaust systems. The facility will support research programs in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, advanced therapeutics and theranostics, healthy aging, neuroscience and pain research, and cardiovascular and kidney disease research. The building will also include faculty offices, researcher workspaces, conference rooms, and collaboration areas. The consultant will be required to conduct an embedded program study and evaluate geothermal energy integration opportunities as part of the design process.

Design services will proceed for the entire project. The final square footage and programmatic elements will be determined by available budget, which may result in a different footprint than initially scoped. Place of performance is SUNY Stony Brook in Suffolk County, New York.
