About this opportunity
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is seeking proposals for an exclusive five or ten-year pouring rights and beverage vending contract covering all campus locations in Mesa County, Colorado. The Request for Proposal (RFP) solicits a comprehensive beverage service provider responsible for supplying carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, bottled juice, and isotonic products across campus facilities, including 45 existing vending machines, dining facilities, concession stands, and other vending areas. Key deliverables include replacing fountain machines, refrigerated display coolers, and other equipment at no vendor cost, offering a minimum of six different beverage offerings, and providing a commission percentage to the university. Evaluation criteria will assess overall responsiveness, product pricing, variety, community and brand marketing efforts, and financial proposal strength. Critical procurement dates include a proposal submission deadline of October 10, 2025 at 9:00 AM MST, anticipated oral presentations on October 15-16, 2025, and an expected contract award date of October 20, 2025.
The procurement does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The current campus infrastructure includes approximately 2,640 meal plan participants and will soon incorporate a new 18,000 sq ft dining facility featuring national brands like Panera and Jamba Juice in Fall 2026. While no incumbent vendor is explicitly named, the university emphasizes seeking a partnership that aligns with its mission of being a "Human Scale University" and desires a vendor committed to supporting institutional values. The RFP suggests potential revenue generation through commissions and marketing opportunities, though specific award values are not definitively stated. Vendors must meet comprehensive insurance requirements, including Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability with $1,000,000 per occurrence minimums, and Automobile Liability Insurance, demonstrating the university's rigorous vendor selection process.
