About this opportunity

The City of Buena Park is soliciting sealed bids for Bellis Yard Improvements (Project No. 156, Bid No. 2027-04), a municipal yard demolition and reconstruction project, with bids due August 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the City Clerk's office.

The scope includes demolition of existing asphalt pavement (13,000 to 3,700 square feet depending on depth), removal of concrete pads, bin walls, two sheds, and one container, and construction of new asphalt and concrete paving, masonry walls with dump areas, vehicle gates, chain-link and steel security fencing, and bollards, plus utility adjustments. The contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidental work to completion.

Contract completion is required within 30 working days of written notice to proceed, with liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day for work remaining incomplete beyond that deadline. The City anticipates award within 60 calendar days of bid opening, with an option to extend the award period an additional 30 calendar days. Compensation uses unit pricing and lump-sum pricing for individual line items; estimated quantities are approximations only and actual quantities may vary at the Engineer's discretion.

All bids must remain valid for a minimum of 90 calendar days after bid opening. Bidders must submit 10% bid security via cash, certified check, or surety bond. Contractors must hold a valid California Class A Contractor's license and maintain comprehensive general liability insurance ($2 million per occurrence), automobile liability insurance ($1 million per accident), and workers' compensation insurance with employer's liability ($1 million per accident). The project is subject to California prevailing wage requirements under Labor Code Section 1770 et seq., and all contractors and subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations. Five percent retention is withheld from progress payments. Pre-bid job walks are available by contacting Jason Tran at 714-562-3680 or jasontran@buenapark.com.
