About this opportunity

Iredell County, North Carolina is requesting sealed bids for construction of approximately a 4,300-square-foot one-story addition to the Animal Services Shelter, classified as Type VB construction, with bids due September 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a mandatory pre-bid conference on August 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Bidders must hold a valid North Carolina General Contractors license with NO VALUE classification and submit evidence of a minimum of five relevant construction projects.

The scope includes site clearing and preparation, site paving, fencing, animal housing areas for dogs, cats, and exotic animals, and all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and related building systems to deliver a fully operational facility. Bidders must submit a bid bond or deposit equal to five percent of the maximum bid price, enforceable for at least 90 days. Minimum insurance requirements include General Liability of $2 million combined single limits with $1 million annual aggregate, Automobile Liability of $1 million combined single limits, Workers Compensation at statutory limits, Professional Liability of $1 million, and Builders Risk at the contractor's discretion. The successful bidder must execute contract documents and furnish Performance and Payment Bonds within ten business days of Notice of Award. Payment terms are Net 30 days after receipt of correct invoice or acceptance of goods. All contractors must comply with E-Verify requirements and North Carolina General Statutes regarding work authorization. Sealed bids are submitted to the Iredell County Purchasing Officer at 200 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677, with public opening and reading to follow at the Government Center Statesville South Wing Conference Room. Disputes exceeding $15,000 are subject to mandatory mediated settlement conferences under North Carolina law.
