The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has authorized a $4,600,000 competitive grant opportunity to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) career promotion programs for students in grades 6-12. This procurement seeks comprehensive STEM educational programming that can include in-school and afterschool sessions, summer camps (day/overnight), and other engaging STEM-related activities designed to increase student interest in technical career pathways. The application is focused on creating structured educational experiences that provide meaningful exposure to STEM subjects and potential career opportunities. Eligible applicants must submit a detailed application through TWC's Procurement Portal, including program specifics such as projected timelines, student recruitment strategies, performance measures, and post-program evaluation plans. The application process will remain open until all funds are awarded, with grant amounts ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, and each institution permitted to submit one application and potentially apply for up to three distinct programs.

Eligible applicants are strictly limited to Texas-based educational institutions in good standing, specifically including Texas Independent School Districts, Private Schools, Charter Schools, Military Based Schools, non-profit community-based organizations, Institutes of Higher Education, Community Colleges, Technical Colleges, and Universities. The funding is sourced from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program resources, with specific requirements that program participants must have a valid Social Security Number and U.S. citizenship. While no specific set-aside designations are explicitly mentioned, the program emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity, particularly for students with disabilities and those from underserved communities. Applicants must demonstrate facility and personnel readiness, potential industry partnerships, and alignment with TWC's strategic priorities. The anticipated review period for submitted applications is approximately 60 days, with successful recipients expected to implement programs that create meaningful pathways to STEM career exploration and engagement.
