About this opportunity
The Town of Orange, Connecticut is requesting bids on tree and limb removal services for Fall 2026 and ongoing work through the contract year, with sealed bids due October 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and Board of Selectmen award decision on October 14, 2026. Site visits are mandatory; the town reserves the right to reject bids from contractors who fail to inspect project sites.
Contractors must supply a large bucket truck with operator, at least one groundman, a chipper truck, chipper, and crew to remove approximately 100 trees on the Fall 2026 Tree List and provide additional tree and limb removal services throughout the contract year. Tree-list work must be completed within six weeks of the Notice to Proceed. Bidders must submit two separate pricing components: a lump sum for all Fall 2026 tree-list removals and an hourly rate for additional removal work. Current project references demonstrating significant experience with similar work are required; failure to submit references results in automatic disqualification.
No state set-asides apply because no state funds are anticipated. Prevailing wage requirements do not apply unless the contract price exceeds $100,000. The town considers bidder residency and business location within Orange in award decisions. Contractors delinquent in taxes or fees to the Town of Orange will not be considered responsible bidders.
Contractors must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and name the Town of Orange as an additional insured. The town is exempt from Connecticut Sales and Use Taxes and Federal Excise Taxes; contractors must avail themselves of these exemptions. Payment is made upon completion and acceptance of work. The town reserves the right to reject any or all bids and award tree-list and additional removal work to separate contractors.
