About this opportunity
The City of San Antonio is soliciting a task order contract for pavement markings maintenance including removal, new installation, raised pavement markers, signage, and related work, with proposals due September 4, 2026.
The scope encompasses installation, replacement, retracing, and removal of hot applied thermoplastic pavement markings, preformed pavement markings, raised pavement markers, bolt down curbing, delineators, and object markers throughout San Antonio. The contractor must be sufficiently staffed to execute up to five concurrent task orders without delays and provide priority service on scheduling, timely completion, and quality assurance. Work follows the current Texas MUTCD, City of San Antonio Standard Sheets, and the 2008 Edition of Standard Specifications for Construction. Hot applied thermoplastic markings must meet a minimum 100 mil thickness; preformed thermoplastic markings require a minimum 125 mil thickness. Contractors must submit mil thickness tests for each corridor using Test Method Tex-854-B and deliver a QA/QC plan prior to work commencement. All materials — hot applied thermoplastic, preformed pavement markings, traffic paint, glass beads, and delineators — must be listed on the TxDOT Material Producer List and comply with specified TxDOT standards.
The contract term is 365 calendar days from the first task order's notice to proceed. Construction time for individual task orders is determined by the City's Project Manager. Normal working hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, though high-traffic urban areas may require work during non-peak hours, weekends, and nights. Task orders are provided based on available funding; the proposal contains estimated quantities with no minimum guarantee. Unit prices established remain valid throughout the contract duration. Mobilization, right-of-way preparation, barricades, signs, traffic handling, and storm water pollution prevention plan costs are subsidiary to various line items. Any roadway damage caused by the contractor must be corrected at the contractor's expense; work not meeting specifications will be redone at contractor expense.
